Writing Lesson Plan - Making Mischief

I suggest that you start with five minutes free writing, using the title as your theme. This is NOT read out to the class. It develops the writing muscle and gets you in the mood!

Exercise 1 - 20 minutes

Today, you woke up and found that you were an imp. How will you use your new persona to make as much mischief as possible.

Everyone reads their work back to the class

Exercise 2 - longer exercise

Print and cut out the scenario titles below. Either allocate to group members or allow then to choose.

Add a little mischief into one of the boring scenarios below, to entertain yourself in the doing, and your friends in the telling.

An office party

A horse riding lesson

A day as a film extra

A weekend camping (basic variety!)

Being taught how to use a new computer by a teenager

A lesson in car maintenance from your boring neighbour

A long train journey

A political meeting

A spa day you never wanted to go on in the first place

A quiet morning at the library

Waiting for a train that doesn’t want to arrive 

Or another boring event of your own choosing

Everyone reads their work back to the class.
